After the blockbuster hit of Bahubali the beginning Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, SS Rajamouli were trending everywhere, with them there was also trending our lovely Devsena or Gorgeous Anushka Shetty who played the vital role of Devsena in the Bahubali Franchise. Born on 7 November 1981, Anushka is one of the best actresses of south Indian cinema who prominently works in Tamil and Telegu Cinemas. Today on SobiGhor we will discuss ten best movies of Anushka Shetty. And these movies are epic in every sense and you should definitely watch these movies to watch wonderful performances of Anushka. Here we have not mentioned about Bahubali Franchise as indeed it’s one of the best movie of her career. Here we have mentioned those movies which are not so popular across the nation yet are movies where Anushkha delivered her best performances.

1. Nagavalli

Released in 2010, Nagavalli is a Telugu horror comedy film produced by Bellamkonda Suresh under the banner of Sri Sai Ganesh Productions. The movie is directed by P. Vasu. And the film stars Venkatesh, Anushka Shetty, Richa Gangopadhyay, Shraddha Das, Poonam Kaur and Kamalinee Mukherjee in lead roles. The film is a sequel to the 2005 superhit film Chandramukhi starring the legend Rajinikanth. It is also remake of the 2010 hit Kannada movie Aptharakshaka, that features Vishnuvardhan, Avinash and Vimala Raman. The movie revolves around a painting of Nagavalli or Chandramukhi from its prequel. When this painting is awarded to a dancer who wins a Bharat Natyam competition, a series of problems arises in her house. Because of which the family hires Dr. Vijay portrayed by Venkatesh, who is there to solve the mystery behind the issues faced by the family. The movie is full of thrill and Suspense with wonderful technical work that makes the movie awesome. The performance of Anushka as Nagavalli is terrific. For her work she was also nominated for Filmfare Best Actress.

 

2. Irandaam Ulagam

Released in 2013, Irandaam Ulagam translated into English as Second World is a Tamil-language romantic fantasy film. The movie is written and directed by Selvaraghavan. The movie stars Arya and Anushka Shetty in prominent roles. The movie depicts the concept of parallel in the universe thus the lead characters are seen as playing dual roles. In one story we see a Medical Student Ramya played by Anushka falling in love with Maths professor Madhu played by Arya. And on the other story we see a Braveheart personality Maravan again played by Arya falls in love with middle-class orphan Varna played by Anushka. As the movie goes we see two stories flowing with ups and downs in both plots. We also see what happens when a person lands in a parallel universe from his original. A movie full of fantasy and action with added romance is beautifully presented on screen. Upon release, the movie received positive reviews and was appreciated by everyone. The film was later dubbed in Telugu and released as Varna. For wonderful performance in dual avatars in the movie, Anushka was nominated for Vijay Award for Best Actress.

 

3. Damarukam

Released in 2012, Damarukam is a Telugu fantasy film written and directed by Srinivasa Reddy, and produced by R. R. Venkat under the banner of R. R. Movie Makers. The movie Stars Anushka Shetty, Akkineni Nagarjuna and Prakash Raj in prime roles. The movie comprised with a mythological subject, where we see an asura’s vengeance as well as the belief of supreme power to help humanity. The movie revolves around andhakasura who is in marry to get Dr. Maheshwari played by Anushka, to get control over the supreme powers of the universe as Maheshwari was born with a powerful boon. But the followers of Shiva wants to kill Maheshwari to protect humanity. There lands Malli or Mallikarjuna played by Nagarjuna who stood to protect Maheshwari from all odds. A movie full of action, wonderful cinematography and a mythological touch will deliver a wholesome entertainment. Nagarjuna and Anushka’s performance for the movie is appreciated by everyone. The brilliant cinematography of the movie made Chota K Naidu won the Award for Filmfare Best Cinematographer.

 

4. Mirchi

Released in 2013, Mirchi is a Telugu action drama film written and directed by Koratala Siva. This is also the debut movie of Kortala Siva as Director. The movie was produced by Pramod Uppalapati, the real-life brother of Prabhas Uppalapti. It was also co-produced by V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy under the banner of UV Creations. The film stars Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Richa Gangopadhyay, Sathyaraj, Adithya Menon, Nadhiya, Sampath Raj, Brahmanandam, and Subbaraju in prime roles. The movie revolves around Jai portrayed by Prabhas. At the beginning of the movie, we see Jai is in love with Manasa played by Richa, and Jai is ready to fight with all odds to win Manasa. But twist happens after the interval that it is found that Jai belongs from a family who is enemy of Manasa’s family. And we come through the original plotline of the movie. A movie full of action, drama and love with interesting twists is brilliantly portrayed in the screen. The film was a big hit and was appreciated by everyone. Anushka is an important part of the movie and for her portrayal, she was also nominated for Filmfare Best Actress South. The film was awarded six state Nandi Awards, including Nandi Award for Best Feature Film, and Nandi Award for Best Debut Director. The film was dubbed later into Hindi and Malayalam. It was also remade in Kannada as Maanikya starring Kiccha Sudeepa and in Bengali as Bindaas Starring Dev.

 

5. Vettaikaaran

Released in 2009, Vettaikaaran is a Tamil action film directed by B. Babusivan. This is also the debut movie of the director. The movie features Vijay, Anushka Shetty, and Srihari in lead roles. The movie is about Ravi played by Vijay, a youth who aspires to become a policeman like his role model. On the way, he falls in love with an IT expert Susheela played by Anushka Shetty. But Susheela rejects Ravi’s proposal at first. Here we see our hero asking help from Susheela’s grandmother to win her. With the romance between the lead pair we see, on the other hand, Ravi is also involved in some issues with Don Chella played by Ravi Shankar. And here we see the action angle of the movie. A movie filled with romance and Action, and above all the wonderful performances of Anushka makes this movie one of the best movies of Anushka’s career. Anushka Shetty was awarded Vijay Award for Favourite Heroine of the year for her performance in the movie.

 

6. Size Zero

Released in 2015, Size Zero is a Telugu-Tamil bilingual romantic comedy film. The movie is directed by Prakash Kovelamudi. The film was made in Telugu and Tamil at same time. The movie is Produced by Prasad V Potluri. The movie stars Anushka Shetty, Arya, Urvashi, Prakash Raj and Sonal Chauhan in lead roles. The movie is about Soundarya a.k.a. Sweety played by Anushka is an overweight lady who is brave and independent. The film describes about her problems she faces, she is been rejected by number of grooms because of her weight. But she stands brave. Sweety joins a weight loss clinic, size zero, as she thinks her weight is the issue. With her hard work and dedication and new ideas she becomes an overnight star and now she gets a number of proposals. As the movie goes ahead we see lots of comedy and romances that keeps engaged us with the centrical character of the movie. A wonderful movie that you should definitely watch, it gives us important social message. The beautiful performance of the star cast makes it more awesome. The movie was a hit and received positive reviews. The movie was later remade in Odia as Chhati Tale Ding Dong. Anushka’s terrific performance made her win the Best Actress in Nandi Awards.

 

7. Deiva Thirumagal

Released in 2011, Deiva Thirumagal translated into English as God’s Daughter is a Tamil drama film written and directed by A. L. Vijay. The movie is produced by M. Chinthamani and Ronnie Screwvala. The movie stars Chiyan Vikram, Anushka Shetty, Sara Arjun, Amala Paul and Nassar in pivotal roles.  The movie is about Krishna portrayed by Vikram, a mentally challenged person with the maturity of a six-year-old boy. He has a daughter and the love for her is immense. With the flow of the movie, we see lots of ups and downs in the life of Krishna, where at a point we see Krishna has to land in court to get parental custody of his daughter. Watch this movie for its awesome plot and storyline that showcases the love of a mentally challenged person for his daughter. With all the technical aspects, the awesome performance of the star cast is one thing that made this movie wonderful. Anushka’s performance as Krishna’s lawyer Anuradha is outstanding in the movie. And thus she won the Vijay Award for the Favorite heroine of the year.

 

8. Arundhati

Released in 2009, Arundhati is a Telegu dark fantasy horror film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna and written by Chintapalli Ramana. The movie stars Anushka Shetty, Sonu Sood, Arjan Bajwa and Sayaji Shinde in leading roles. The movie revolves around Arundhati played by Anushka, when she comes to her ancestral village she finds herself involved in a horrific incident that happened in her previous life is still following her. A movie with an interesting plot and wonderful performance will keep you engaged throughout the movie. The film was appreciated by all and got positive reviews and was a big commercial success. It was later dubbed into Malayalam and Tamil with the same title and dubbed in Oriya as Mantra Sakti. It is also noted that the plot is based on the 1984 Hindi film Purana Mandir, and it was presented in the modern screen with modern cinematic ideas, making it an epic movie of the decade. It was also later remade in Bengali as Arundhati starring popular Bengali Actress Koel Mallick. The Performance of Anushka Shetty is mentioned as one of the most dedicated performances of the decade. And for her hardworking performance, she received the award of Filmfare Best Actress. With her Sonu Sood also won the Filmfare Best actor in supporting role.

 

9. Vedam

Released in 2010, Vedam is a wonderful drama film written and directed by Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi and produced by Devineni Prasad. With Anushka Shetty, the movie stars Manoj Manchu, Allu Arjun, Deeksha Seth, Manoj Bajpai, Saranya Ponvannan, Lekha Washington, Nagayya in prominent roles. The movie is about its lead characters struggling with their own livelihood. These characters are, One Cable Raju Played by Allu Arjun is a slum dweller who works as a cable operator; Second is Saroja played by Anushka is a prostitute; third is Ramulu is a debt-ridden weaver from Sircilla; next is Vivek Chakravarthy played by Manchu Manoj is an upcoming rock star,  And the last is Raheemuddin Qureshi played by Manoj Bajpai is a Muslim man from old Basti in Hyderabad. The story of these five characters is connected into one. Anushka Shetty was appreciated by everyone for her performance. The film received four Filmfare Awards, that includes Anushka as Best Actress, Allu Arjun as Best Actor, and Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi as the Best Director. The film also Received the Filmfare Best film of the Year.  The movie was considered as a big hit. The film was later remade in Tamil as Vaanam and Anushkha portrayed the same role again. And again she was awarded ITFA Best Actress Award for her performance and this time for Vaanam.

10. Rudhramadevi

Released in 2015, Rudhramadevi is a Telugu epic historical fiction film based on the life of Rudrama Devi, one of the notable rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty in Deccan. The film was written and directed by Gunasekhar. The movie features Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Vikramjeet Virk, Krishnam Raju, Prakash Raj, Suman, Nithya Menen, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa. The movie about Rudrama played by Anushka, the queen of Kakatiya Dynasty. On her birth, it was announced to everyone that she is a boy, as everyone wished for a prince to save the kingdom from interior and exterior enemies. But with the heat of the moment consulting with Minister the King announces, her as a boy. So the movie goes ahead Rudrama disguised to everyone as Rudra Dev, until one day where she founds the truth about her. But again consulting with minister and her father, for the sake of the kingdom she again keeps herself secret. Thus she plays dual life of a prince as well as princess. As the movie goes ahead we see conspiracies against Rudradev to overthrow her and many more. On the other hand she is supported by trustworthy peoples like Veerbhadra played by Rana Daggubati and Gona Ganna Reddy played by Allu Arjun. The film was released in 3D. The movie was a massive hit and is appreciated by everyone. Anushka and Allu Arjun were appreciated by everyone for their pivotal roles. Later the movie was dubbed Hindi and Malayalam languages. With number of awards for her pleasing role Anushkha Also bagged the Award of the Filmfare Best Actress South for this movie. And also many other artists of the movie are appreciated with number of Awards.
