There is no doubt Bengali cinema is a gem in a peculiar sense. Movies are made with a complete dedication of the artists. Say it a director, a cinematographer, a writer or an actor. Bengali Cinema will give you a taste of an awesome story in your screen, which will entertain you as well as will make your day. The focus part of every good movie is the presence of mind-blowing and dedicated star cast, in a simple sense the lead actors. and there are many such wonderful actors in Bengali cinema who has entertained us with their awesome performances since decades. Mithun Chakraborty, Rachana Banerjee, Victor Banerjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Tapas Pal and Ranjit Mullick are just a Few names, the list is very Long. Today in Sobighor we will discuss 10 best or outstanding actors of Bengali Cinema since 2000, and stay tuned very soon we will update the list of top Bengali actresses too.

1. Indraneil

A Charming and Dashing actor who makes a significant role in every movie he portrays is Indraneil Sengupta.  He was born on September 8, 1974, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. He is also another actor who has tried in serials and movies, and he his active in both Bengali and Hindi CInema. Indraneil has started his career with the film Shukriya: Till Death Do Us released in 2004 along with Aftab Shivdasani, Shriya Saran, and Anupam Kher. After that, he worked in many serial and movies.  He acted in serials like Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Babul Ki Bitiya Chali Doli Saja Ke, Maayka, Tumhari Paakhi, DDevi.He dashing personality is plus point for his acting career. He is in the adored by many girls because of his sexy look. He came to limelight tremendously after portraying the antagonist in superhit Kahaani (2012). After that, he starred in superhit movies like Autograph (2010) and Gogoler Kirti (2014). His portrayal of Antagonist in “Arundhuti” was appreciated a lot by critics and Viewers. In short, Indraneil is a dedecated dashing personality whom we love when he plays negative roles so perfectly.

 

2. Ankush

An actor who is dashing and entertain you a lot with his natural acting and super dancing skills. Ankush Hazra made his acting debut with the film Kellafate of 2010. After that, he starred in Idiot and Khiladi which were very succesful and he established himself as an actor with a lover image. Ankush is considered as an extraordinary dancer by the masses and that enhanced his popularity a lot in bengali cinema. Some of the very good movies of Ankush includes Haripodo bandwala, Jamai 420, Ki kore toke Bolobo, Kanamachi, Kelor Kirti, Ami Je ke TumarIdiot and Zulfiqar. For his role of Akhtar in Zulfiqar, he was appreciated a lot by critics as well as viewers. Ankush made him as an established actor and a has a different place in the heart of viewers, who loves him a lot for his entertaining performances.

 

3. Soham

The actor with a great smile and a personality who will entertain you with his perfect coming timings and can make you emotional with his dedicated portrayal of his roles. Soham Chakraborty aka Soham. He started his career as a child artist at the age of three as Master Bittu from the movie “Choto Bou” and later starred as a child actor in many films, one of the prominent film is “Shakha Proshakha”  directed by legend Satyajit Ray. He starred first as a lead actor in Chander Bari, which was a semi-hit, later he acted as an emotional lover in movie Prem Aamar (2009). which turned out as a big hit and made Soham a most wanted star of Tollywood. Later he starred in a number of Hit movies like Faande poriya Boga Kande, Amanush, Bojhey Na She Bojhena, Loveria, Jamai 420 and Many more. For portraying the role of a cruel and mentally psychic role in Amanush he was highly appreciated by viewers and critics. He is a star that can make you laugh in some movies and in some he will make you emotional. In short, he will give you the all the royal taste of wholesome entertaining movies.

 

4. Parambrata

An actor who is loved by audiences for his fabulous performances for portraying unique roles. Parambrata Chattopadhyay aka Parambrata began his career with Bengali television and then gradually moved ahead for films. He became a nationwide star after featuring blockbuster thriller Kahaani (2012), along with Vidya Balan. And then he starred in blockbuster movies like Baishey Srabon, Kadambari, Proloy,  Zulfiqar and Many more. He also tried in a number of Hindi films too but couldn’t earn such successful movie except the superhit “Kahani”. Parambrata is also good in directing movies and his directorial debut film is Jiyo Kaka that starred Rituparna Sengupta and Rudranil Ghosh in prime roles. And then he Directed Hawa Bodol starring himself which was a semi-hit and was critically acclaimed. Prambrata is also the co-owner of Workshop Productions Pvt. Ltd formed in 2011 and turned a producer too. This personality has tried his hand in all domains and has given best in everything, and that makes him one of the most successful actors of Bengali CInema.

5. Jisshu

An actor who very good with movies of the artistic genre. Jisshu Sengupta, popularly as Jisshu. He was born in Kolkata, Prior coming to the movies he worked in a advertising agency. Jisshu began the career in screens by starring in a mythological TV Serial Mahaprabhu, portraying the lead Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And by this role, he became most popular TV serial star. He made his debut as a movie star from the movie “Priyojon” which was not so successful. After that, he also portrayed the legendary role of Tagore in “Chelebela” directed by Sukanta Roy. A movie that proves how good he can be as a lead actor after that he starred in a number of good movies like Abohoman, Noukadubi, Shob Choritro Kalpanik and Jaatishwar. This movie defined him as an actor who is very good in depicting royal acting skills in this critically acclaimed classic movies. Later he showcased his effective acting skills in movies like Posto, Zulfiqar, Rajkahini, Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana and Arshinagar which are big hits of Bengali cinema. He also starred in few Hindi movies like Barfi and Mardaani etc. Apart from films, Jisshu is also known for anchoring reality shows and award shows like Filmfare Awards East (2017).

 

6. Hiran

A charming actor who can impress you with his lovely lover boy image roles. Hiran, a versatile Bengali film actor, has showcased his skills through all genre of films starting from romantic to comedy and even action. Prior coming to movies Hiran was leading a life as a senior manager in Reliance industries. He got his debut and break-through in 2007 for the Blockbuster Hit movie “Nabab Nandini”. The film was a success and established Hiran as a popular face in the top league of Bengali CInema. He then starred in movies like Bhalobasa Bhalobasa, Risk, Chirosathi, Mon Je Kore Uru Uru, Jackpot, Le Halua Le, Majnu, Macho Mastanaa and Many more.He was appreciated a lot for his versatile roles in various movies, sometimes viewers appreciated him as chocolate boy and some times they loved him as a Macho hero. Hiran became lot popular in masses by giving numerous hit and entertaining movies. For movie Macho Mastana Hiran did a lot workout and devoloped eight packs to suit perfectly for his role. His latest film Meher Aali is applauded by everyone for portraying his role so dedicatedly. In short, Hiran is a versatile actor who will entertain you with all genre of movies.

 

7. Dev

Dev born as Deepak Adhikari on 25 December 1982, Currently a superstar, a politician and owns his own production house called Dev Entertainment. he made his acting debut in the 2006 film Agnishapath but the movie was unsuccessful after that he starred in “I Love You” opposite Payel Sarkar which turned out again as a critically flop movie, but commercially it was little successful and Dev earned a little recognition. Dev didn’t work in movies for around a year as he’s early days as a lead actor was not so good. He made a comeback on the silver screen with superhit “Premer Kahini” opposite Koel Mullick, which was a huge success and this time Dev didn’t look back. In early days he was hit as a lover boy image actor that we can see in Challenge, Le Chakka, Paglu, Poran Jai Joliya re etc then he turned as an action star from movies like Challenge 2, Rangbaaz, Yodha, Bindaas, Paglu 2 etc. And now he has established himself as one of the actors who works on peculiar subjects and he has proved his skills in an artistic way in movies like Chander Pahar, Arshinagar, Buno Hansh, AMazon Abhijaan. He has bagged numerous awards and nominations, like Tele Cine Awards, Kalakar Awards, Filmfare Awards East, Filmfare Awards East (2017) & NABC International Bangla Film Award 2017. His dedicated performances had made him one of the highest paid actors of Bengali cinema. He is now an honorable Member of Parliament of India from the Ghatal constituency, as a candidate of All India Trinamool Congress.

 

8. Abir

The most elegant star of Bengali Cinema. Abir is an actor who is known for his Royal choice of movies, mainly focussing on classic subjects, Abir is an actor who will give you a thrilling experience through his numerous movies. Abir Chatterjee is born to popular theater personalities Phalguni and Rumki Chatterjee. So he always had the capability to become a marvelous actor genetically, and that is what he made up, as the most thrilling star of Tollywood. He also started his career with Bengali television and then moved to Bengali cinema in 2009 starring the lead with Cross Connection. Earlier to this, he was part of several Bengali serials including Proloy. Asche, Shasuri Zindabad, and Khuje Berai Kacher Manush, Banhishikha, Sudhu Tomari Jonno, Ek Aakasher Niche, Janmobhumi etc. He appeared in hit Bengali movies like Byomkesh Bakshi, Kanamachi, Bojhena She Bojhena, Bisorjon, Raj kahini, Royal Bengal Tiger, Baishey Srabon, Hrid Majharey, and Feluda etc. After the massive hit of Royal Bengal tiger, The Indian Express mentioned he brought “elegant élan and confidence” to his role. After acting in Hrid Majharey film, he topped the list of Calcutta Times Most Desirable Men of 2014. Abir is a complete actor and he has always proved his charm through portraying confidently his roles.

 

9. Prasenjit

The Legend who has impressed every generation with his performances so far, and is still active with his mighty performances in leading roles. the reason we listed him here because he is still active in Bengali CInema and he gives a huge COmpetition to modern day Bengali Stars, even though he is seniormost to all others on the list. Prosenjit Chatterjee also known as Bumba Da is The son of actor Biswajit Chatterjee. Prasenjit began his acting career as a child actor in legendary director Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Chotto Jigyasa. After that, he appeared in some other films as a child actor. Prosenjit’s debut as leading actor was Bimal Roy’s Duti Pata, which was not so successful. His breakthrough role came after starring in Amar Sangi (1987), a highly successful romantic drama. While he was Doing good with Bengali cinema, he also tried in Hindi cinemas too. He made his debut in Hindi cinema with David Dhawan directed Aandhiyan (1990), and after some other films like Sone Ki Zanjeer, Veerta etc. He left working in Hindi films and began completely working in Bengali cinema. And there he starred in a number of masterpieces, Choker Bali, Baishey Srabon, Cholo Paltai are few names and there are many. He received Best Actor Award and National Film Award – Special Jury Award / Special Mention (Feature Film) for his performance in the film “Dosar” Directed by legendary Rituparno Ghosh. Post-2000 He went to earn more recognition for his roles in the romantic thriller Khawto, the drama Praktan, the thriller Traffic, the drama Shankhachil, the crime film Zulfiqar, Baishey Srabon, Autograph and Many more. The latest Release “The One” prasenjit starring as the antagonist is one of the successful films of Bengali cinema of the year. Thus He is a tough competition for all the actors and so we mentioned him on this list. We see himself as a legend and will keep as entertaining with his legendary acting skills in his upcoming movies.

10. Jeet

A guy with pleasing personality dedicated acting skills and an actor who can entertain you with every genre of movie, let it be Drama, Comedy, action thriller, this actor did best in everything. Jeet born as Jeetendra Madnani. He began his career as a model and then starred in TV serials like Bishabriksha, Janani, and Daughters of the Century. His debut movie is Chandu, which was a big box office failure. But very soon he Starred in Sathi released in 2002, which was a huge success, and the bengali cinema knew, its the birth of the next superstar, and Jeet stand to everyone’s hope and became a most wanted actor very soon. For Saathi, he won the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association – Most Promising Actor Award and Anandalok Awards for Best Actor. Again In 2005, he starred in Nater Guru, for which he recieved second Anandalok Award for Best Actor.  Jeet proved himself as a person who is very good in any kind of acting from a movie like Jor, Dui Prithibi, Boss, Deewaana, Abhimaan, Royal Bengal Tiger, Bachchan, Besh Korechi Prem Korechi, 100% Love, Awara, Badsha and Many more, and became the favorite star of everyone.
